Houghton Hall’s Glory, Restored: The Exhibition that Showcases an Estate’s Former Grandeur
See, the only problem with that grandiose life is, no matter how cluttered the walls or empty the halls, it is always thick with blood and time.
They don’t make them like they used to.

Traditional Home, LibyaPhoto: George Steinmetz
Kasim Abdu Salaam Habib, 39, opens his lovingly decorated 600-year-old home to foreign tourists in Ghadames in western Libya. The house needs repairs, and visitors are scarce these days. But Habib is optimistic. “I want to see Libya as a democracy,” he says.

Misato Katsuragi Dreams of the Second Impact
Misato didn’t appeal to me when I watched Eva the first time, but re-watching it recently as an adult I’ve come to really like her. She seems carefree and detached, but she’s suffered greatly and struggles against many obstacles, from patriarchy to the threat of global annihilation. Also she has good taste in beer.
This piece was done as part of the Red Cross Book Eva fan zine.

The ICEHOTEL #23, a temporary hotel and art gallery, is located in Jukkasjärvi, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The ice is made from water supplied by the nearby Torne River. Within the hotel there are artists’ “suites” where artists who have been selected by ICEHOTEL’s Art & Design Group come from all over the world to create one of a kind site specific art exhibitions. Some artists have taken a literal approach to their hotel suite complete with beds, fur bed coverings, and light fixtures. This thoroughly documented project will be on display until the ice melts in the spring. more: http://hifructose.com/2013/03/05/a-hotel-and-art-gallery-made-of-ice-near-the-arctic-circle/
